History of Forester Crane
A timeline of development spanning the company's origins, the transition to specialised equipment, and the current stage of scaling up production.
The beginning
The history of Forester Crane dates back to 1885, when Karl Julius Lest founded a metalworking workshop in Tartu, Estonia. Since then, the company — formerly known as C.J. Lesta Metallitookoda, A.S. G&H Lellep, and Voit — has evolved from a small workshop into one of Europe's leading manufacturers of forestry equipment. Thanks to decades of experience and innovation in hydraulic lifting equipment production, Forester Crane has become a recognised partner both in Europe and beyond.
Transition to specialised equipment
Since its founding, the company has continuously expanded its production and product range. In 1995, the factory was fully repurposed for manufacturing specialised forestry equipment under the Forester, Nokka, and Weimer brands. Since then, Forester Crane has continued to ramp up production and develop innovative solutions for forestry, transport, and heavy lifting.
Growth and geographic expansion
Today, Forester Crane not only upholds its tradition of quality but is also actively entering new markets and expanding its sales geography. Our goal is to become the first choice for forestry companies across Europe by offering equipment that combines advanced technology, affordability, and durability.
